Beneath the Olive Tree explores the Greek Civil War (1940s) through the eyes of female political exiles, who were confined to concentration camps and brutally tortured merely for playing a part in the Resistance Movement, which helped to expel the Nazi's from Greece. These courageous women bare their souls, recounting the years lost from their youths to the unspeakable horrors their own country inflicted. This thought-provoking and eye-opening film sheds light on a little known part of history and the repercussions Greece still faces today.
